I could wear a version of this outfit every single time I go out and be very happy. I think it’s the boots. They are hands down one of the best clothing-item-purchase decisions I’ve ever made.
Undershirt: Downeast, $10
Jacket: Nordstrom, $80
Jeans: Not Your Daughters, $65
Shoes: Born, $175
Total: $330
And my jeans are a really dark wash, not black, like they look here.

I would say this is my favorite outfit ever but I am trying to shield my eyes from the flagrant immodesty

Very cute. I got a pair of Born boots for my birthday this year and I love them. So incredibly comfy and also stylish. I also embraced skinny jeans this year, first with a pair from Banana Republic, which I liked a lot until they got kinda stretched out. Now I’m digging Ann Taylor Loft’s Curvy Skinny jeans. They’re more form fitting but they’re also really forgiving and the waist is nice and high so there’s no muffin top. Plus, they’re $59 and ATL often has store-wide 40 percent off sales!

thanks for these tips! i’m looking for new skinny jeans that aren’t lowrise. i do so much damage with the atl card. ugh. sometimes i wonder if their stuff isn’t ever supposed to be the tag price, to lure us in and buy more cos we think we are getting a deal!

I have to add my applause for this look! I love it! I usually wear a cardigan or a belted sweater with skinny jeans and boots…and thank you for the ATL tip. I’m wearing to rags the pair I found at Old Navy 8 years ago which is a mid rise but unfortunately they were a light wash to start with and I’d really like a dark wash (I was considering dying them but now I think I’ll retire them to the painting wardrobe).

I’m really excited to give these a try! My Not Your Daughter’s have this weird wrinkling at the crotch (and were SO expensive). Once I lose enough weight to drop down a size I’m going to give the ATLs a try.

Hi Jenna!
ooo! i love this with the fitted jacket. I often wear something similar but with a long cardigan. the jacket gives it more shape which is really nice.
how do you feel about downeast basics quality? the clothes are anthropologie cute at target/forever21 prices…want to make sure that their stuff lasts.

Most of their stuff is Target quality. I generally like the fit, but you just need to watch and see what the materials are, as they are usually cheap. But like the cotton shirt dresses? A lot of women at church have them and I think they’re adorable. Or the pencil skirts.
I say, go for it if it’s something fun. But don’t plan on wearing the pieces for the next 10 years, like you might with higher quality items.
