Style Files: Simply Vera Wang Teal

Posted by Jenna, Under clothing

I love this shirt. Not because I think it makes my figure or breasts look great (they look particularly bad in these pictures). But because of the color and the length and the sleeves and how it’s the perfect shirt to wear when I ate too much popcorn the night before.

Sometimes T1 really needs to be in the pictures with me. Also, I love that necklace, it’s an amber heart from Poland. Did you know amber could be yellow? I didn’t. And that bracelet was a free gift from one of the workers at the resort where we got engaged on the day we flew in. I don’t want my jewelry to be expensive, I want it to be full of memories.
Anyone have any tips to get your kid to stop picking their nose? So far I haven’t made any progress, and it feels like reacting to it only makes him want to do it more.

  1. Such a cute shirt! I agree that it looks like the perfect length. I also love the length of the sleeves - I have such a hard time finding sleeves I like!

You look so like your sister in the top right picture. You really resemble one another!

No advice on the nose-picking. I think it’s just a stage.

  4. I remember reading somewhere that amber is a traditional gift for newly engaged women in Poland… maybe I’m remembering wrong? Either way, I love that shirt and the necklace.

That makes sense, amber is really common/famous in Poland.

  6. With my oldest son, I would tell him it was “ew, yucky” while shaking my head and making the distasteful face complete with wrinkled nose and that was enough to get to stop. With my current two year old, however, it is not working as well-he just waits until he thinks I’m not looking LOL They will get it eventually :)

  7. I think this outfit looks great. I can see what you mean about it looking a little off in the photos but it looks like it would look just right in person.

I have almost managed to get my 3 year old to stop picking. I thought I escaped having to deal with nose picking but just a few months ago he took up the habit. Sigh. I just tell him that we don’t pick our nose and that I can help him with a tissue if he needs it. I also tell him it will make his nose hurt. He started biting his fingernails at the same time so we are also dealing with that. He seems to only do it when we watch movies or tv which isn’t very often. If he doesn’t stop when I ask him to then I take his hand and just hold it for a while until he forgets the urge. He doesn’t do it very often at all anymore. I think it was an exploring thing that then became fun when I brought attention to it. I’ve tried to just be matter of fact but not real adamant about it.

I like the idea of offering him a tissue. It will give him the attention he craves, while simultaneously reinforcing a good habit.

  8. I think the Vera Wang line (at Kohls) is so cute… except there’s always some awkward fit issue! Just like you don’t love the tie-boob look in this top, I had a skirt with the weirdest off-center pleats. I finally gave up trying to wear it even though I loved the fabric, color and length. Sigh. I don’t know if it’s the design or the lack of quality (the stuff is super cheap) but it’s frustrating!

ps that color is AMAZING on you!

  9. My husband is a pediatric nurse and says nose pickers are healthier than kids who don’t pick their noses. So, I say, let T1 pick away!
