Mini Style Files: Blue Vested Little Man

Posted by Jenna, Under baby, clothing

Someone on Formspring suggested I do some posts on my favorite outfits for T1. I love this idea! He has a few in particular that are so cute, and it’s a nice way for me to say thank you to family members who send such nice presents our way. Almost everything I buy him is either thrifted or from Costco, but I’ve been able to put him in some outfits that have me thinking he’d have a good shot at getting a role as a Baby Gap model. But doesn’t every parent think that?

Vest: Nordstrom brand (the slimmest-fit baby dress shirt I’ve ever seen!)
Vest: United Colors of Benetton
Pants: United Colors of Benetton
Socks: Gift from Polish relatives
Shoes: Baby Gap

Remember when I guest posted on These Little Moments about kissing your kids on the lips? I’m still doing it, and loving it. I say “kiss” and he puckers right up and sometimes laughs and tries to do it again and again.

  1. Oh he is so cute! Those EYES!

That photo of you leaning over his shoulder while he looks seriously into the camera (holding the remote?)? One of my all-time favorites of you too. You look beautiful and happy and he’s adorable in his seriousness.

    Thanks :)

Yes, he has the remote. HE MUST HAVE THE REMOTE. Almost all of my pictures now have him hanging out in front of me throwing a fit because I won’t give it to him.

  2. Oh my, he is so cute! I love that little vest. He’s such a stylin’ little man (thanks to his mama =D)

  3. I love it! He is so darling (and the little outfit is pretty cute too).

Have you noticed that people like him more when he’s dressed up? People are nicer to my daughter when she is (I just wrote about this) but I’m not sure if this is gender-specific or not.

    Jenna Reply:

Well I know he receives more compliments and attention. AND I think people are generally weary of kids who look sloppy or snot covered or dirty.

Oh people are so much nicer and compliment my daughter more when she has on little skirts or tutus. My son is still a little too young to be dressed up and still spends most of his time in his car seat if we’re out.

  4. I can’t believe I never noticed that your eyes are pretty much the same color as T1′s- he’s so adorable- and stylin’ too!

  5. How long will you keep kissing him on the lips? Won’t he be confused when someday he is 10 and you decide suddenly that it isn’t appropriate anymore? Or are you going to let him kiss you on the lips his whole life?

    Jenna Reply:

I think we’ll just stop when it feels appropriate for the two of us. I don’t get too worked up about it.

This is exactly the way it worked for me. I used to kiss both of my parents on the lips up until I was probably 12/13. After that I stopped kissing my dad on the lips, but it’s a cultural thing.. I kissed my female relatives on the lips up until I was probably 18. Now I kiss my family on the cheek since I’m more conscious about germs. But I think I’d probably kiss my kids on the lips until they were uncomfortable with it. Kids will usually let you know.. esp around peers ;)

What if she does want to kiss him on the lips his whole life? What’s the big deal? I am 25 and still kiss both of my parents on the lips! My dad kisses everyone on the lips too - even his brothers. It’s not like you’re making out..it’s just an innocent loving little peck. I honestly had never thought it was weird until my husband pointed out that my dad kissed his brothers (and me) on the lips and I said “oh yeah…that’s what we’ve alwaysdone”. I actually still kiss my uncles on the lips too! No big deal :)

  6. T1 is going to love having these gorgeous pictures of him and his mom together!

  7. I kiss both of my kids on the lips and so does my husband. It will stop when they say “Oh Ma’! Quit it! That’s for little kids!” or something. I grew up kissing my mom on the lips and at some point I obviously stopped but I don’t remember being confused about it or it being traumatic.

He looks…European or something..lol. Which is cute. I love the little vest.

Can you do an update about toddler shoes? It is so easy to buy the cheapy cheap ones but I put Bean in a pair last summer from Target and they gave her blisters! So I’m biting the bullet this year and spending more on their shoes, but I don’t know what brands are good or where to get them. And I remember reading on here a few times that you invest a bit of money into his shoes because of the width of his feet.

  9. He is getting so big!!! I want to squish him. And I can’t stay away from Owen’s lips either. I’ll be so sad when he won’t let me kiss him anymore!

  10. You two are so beautiful.

  11. He is such a stylish young man! Beautiful photos of the two of you :)
