I’d like to move to my own domain, but thatwife.com is taken. Apparently you visit thatwife.com to find a hot wife (I think you can find that here as well. Oh no, am I not allowed to say that?), or even a Russian wife (but not a Polish wife).
So what are my options?

4I’m thinking thatwifethatlife.com or thatlife.com would be good because you’ll have babies and then you’ll be That Wife AND That Mom. So something that could encompass all eventual aspects of your life (that aunt, that grandma) would be good. I’m leaning toward thatwifethatlife.com because I like the rhythmic way it sounds.

5Agree that you’ll have little ones in ThatLife… So what about thatfamily.com? You are already a family, and it leaves you room to grow!

7I vote for thatlife.com for the reasons outlined by Kate. Thatwifethatlife sounds cute, but it’s quite long.

Unless you’re gonna change the title to “that life” I’d think it would confuse people who only remember the title and quick type that into the URL.

I’d avoid the .net options since people will typically assume it’s .com and end up somewhere other than your site. I’m not at work today so I don’t have my stats handy from our last bit of research, but the percentage of misdirections that occur with .net domains being mistyped is really high.

Agree that unless name of blog is changing, keep wife in there somewhere.
And as far as “its too much to type” goes, it will just pop up in your history. Or if you follow in google reader or ob blogger you can just click the link.

I don’t think that “name changing” is a problem. As Kate pointed out, you’re planning on becoming that mom soon anyway. For some reason thatwifejenna seems much shorter than thatwifethatlife, but I guess it’s just closer to what I already think in my head.

19I too vote for thatlife.com - and you can have sub-sections as your life (and your site) continues to grow! Right now it could just be “That Wife” but maybe get the mister blogging too under a “That Husband” section, a section devoted to the home as “That Home” (or something similar), as well as a section devoted to the LDS church, being a mom (for the future), aunt, etc….the possibilities are endless!

23I guess if I were in your shoes, the first question I would ask myself is, ‘How comfortable would I be knowing my blog could be confused with a site that directs people to information on “Swingers” or “Wife swapping”?’
For me the answer would probably point to thatlife.com.

I agree that it’s better to go with a .com URL, and that you’d probably be better off avoiding a .net address that has a .com counterpart that may be confusing to people who are looking for you. If your grandma or church friends mixed up the URL, went to thatwife.com, got a swinger site, it could be upsetting or baffling. Not that she’d associate you with the content, but just seeing the site … I’d just avoid the confusion.
That may be more than you wanted to hear. I’m inspired that you are going for your own URL!
