Scheduling Future Posts with Blogger and WordPress

June 20, 2009 By: Jenna Category: Tips

It’s late Sunday night and I’m writing all of my posts for the week through Saturday (including this one). Instead of overwhelming you with 6 posts in a matter of hours, I space them out and schedule them to go up at 12:00 am each day. It’s really easy to do, see for yourself.

In WordPress when you create a new post the default setting is to publish immediately. Simply change the date and time to your desired date/time in the future and hit “OK”. After hitting OK, the blue button that says “Publish” will turn in a blue button that says “Schedule.” Now when you click schedule it will automatically go up at the time you previously specified.

You can do it with Blogger too.

Create a new post, click on “Post Options” in the bottom left corner, and then change the date and time to whatever future time you would like your post to go up on. When you click the orange “Publish Post” button it won’t go live until the date and time you specified. Easy right?

Just make sure that you have the correct date and time set in your settings panel so that when you set your post to go up at midnight your time it doesn’t end up going up at midnight Russias time or something. Then you get all frustrated and call your blogging platform an idiot. Then you figure out the problem and your cheeks get hot and you apologize to your lovely blogging platform for always being so smart and doing things exactly the way it should.

Someday I Will Read This, Just For Him

January 12, 2009 By: Jenna Category: Tips

That Husband will be so proud of me. While reading a post from a fellow bee, I found out about the free download Oprah is offering. (See how helpful reading blogs can be sweetie?)

There are few things That Husband likes more than finances. (He likes me more than finances, but I think he likes finances better than all of you. Unless you want to talk to him about finances. Then he might start to like you better than me.)

do it do it do it

There I did it. I dragooned you as best I could. Now go download it here. (Only free until January 15th).

Olive Garden Nutritional Stats

January 12, 2009 By: Jenna Category: Tips

I actually hate Olive Garden. I think the food isn’t very good, and I don’t understand why people wait in line for 2 hours to have mediocre food. But if you have to go, you have to go (birthday parties and such always seem to drag me there.

So before you grab those breadsticks and order that minuscule serving of alfredo sauce, think of these stats.

Serving Size: 3 breadstick and 1 bowl of alfredo dipping sauce

Calories: 830

Fat: 44 g

Sat Fat: 24 g

Carbs: 93 g

Before you wait in line for 2 hours this weekend, read up on the other items you should be avoiding here.

Black Friday Trickery

November 28, 2008 By: Jenna Category: Tips

We are trying to buy a new printer today and I think we will be using a little trick That Husband learned a few years back. The story goes like this…

Once upon a time, That Husband went to Wal-mart on Black Friday. Walking into this store on this day in particular usually results in elbows in your side, knocks to the head, and possible death by trampling. Except That Husband strolled in sometime in the afternoon, after the madness was over. He walked right by everyone angling for the same electronics, meandered over toward the DVD section and picked up several DVD’s NOT marked down by Wal-mart. You see, he had a trick up his sleeve.

He took ads from Staples, Best Buy, and other big name retailers and looked at what DVD deals they were offering. He found those DVD’s at Wal-mart, walked up to the register, and asked for a price match. The cashier had no idea what he was talking about, but the manager understood right away. So he walked out of Wal-mart with some insanely good deals on DVD’s without participating in the Black Friday madness in any way.

Moral of the story: Find out which stores price match. As long as the coupon or ad you are holding does not mention anything about “limited quantities” you are safe to avoid the crowds and feel elite about scoring such fantastic deals after sleeping in that morning. I’m sorry I don’t have any tricks for avoiding the nasty traffic though.
