Remember the Nana and Me photos? A friend on Facebook asked me a question about taking pictures of her kids, and I decided to make this example to show her where to place her kids and herself next to a window when taking pictures. This is the setup we used to take those pictures with my mom.

I clear out all of the stuff in that corner whenever I want to do a photo shoot in the house, as I like the blank space and the beautiful light. It’s best if you can choose a north-facing window as well.

Kelli Nicole gifted us T1′s birth and newborn photos, but I knew we wouldn’t be able to pay someone for both types of photos when T2 was born. Photographing my own birth was impossible, so I hired Kelly M for that, and crossed my fingers that I would recover fast enough from the birth to be able to manage a DIY newborn session before T2 outgrew the cuddly/sleepy newborn stage.

On Valentine’s day my sister and I quickly made the bed, gathered up the photo stuff, and prepped both kids for our photo session. We shot for about an hour (could not have done it without Shay, thanks my dear!), kept it very simple, and ended up with what you see below.

Look how light her hair is! I think she might actually have a little bit more than T1 did, but it’s so light that it’s harder to see. Read more →

It’s long been a dream of mine to be able to make a collage like this with just a few clicks. I knew I didn’t want to do the scanning myself, and so I put it on my 101 in 1001 list thinking I would get to it eventually. When Groupon emailed me about a deal for photos scanning I decided to go for it this past summer.
