It’s been a big week for me, writing about my new calling, dealing with a husband who travels, and yesterdays post on photography and pregnancy. I need a break from the in-depth posts, and what better way to do it than with an entry where I brag about all of my lovely birthday presents?
And it’s finally time to reveal Gift #4! (Remember, this was labeled as the “frivolous one” by That Husband so I was quite excited).
First this came in the mail:
My replacement canvas from Nations Photo Lab! Although I do have some issues with the color, I attribute them to me not having my monitor calibrated, not the lab itself. The image is sharp and crisp, and will look fantastic in our home wherever we move. I appreciate their effort to make sure I was happy with my purchase and I love seeing this in the living room, reminding me of our beautiful Seattle wedding!
And a few other lovely gifts I received from my favorite ladies (mom, sister, and grandma).
I opened up the package from my grandma and found this tackle box inside. What would she put in a tackle box?
A sewing kit! The other day I went into Michaels and tried to get some things so that I could finally start using my sewing machine, but it was so overwhelming, and I didn’t know where to get the bobbins so I just gave up and went home. Now I have no more excuses. It’s time to get sewing!
That Sister sent me this gorgeous bracelet. I think it’s quite possible that it’s too fabulous for me to wear. I guess TH and I are going to have to dress up and go out somewhere where I can rock this bracelet. I tried putting it on while I dumped potatoes and chicken in the crock pot, but it just wasn’t working. I’m thinking sushi.
What good taste she has.
That Mom made things fun by wrapping a bunch of little gifts individually. After watching me open presents at Christmas 22 years in a row she knows me very well.
It was definitely a fun little collection of gifts. I’m halfway through Fast Track Photographer already, and I high recommend it to anyone looking to get into wedding photography. I immediately warned TH never to put my fancy new spatulas handles in the dishwasher. He informed me that he interpreted my warning as an indication he should stop doing the dishes altogether. I told him this was not the case.
And finally to the “frivolous” gift from That Husband.
About a week after my birthday (we celebrate things oddly because of my photography schedule and his business schedule) he left the house at 8 pm and said he had to go “out”, and wouldn’t tell me where he was going or when he would be back. This is very strange behavior in That Household.
About 45 minutes later he returned and set two boxes on my lap.
The first contained a Paciugo gelato pie, in my favorite flavor, Amarena Black Cherry Swirl.
And the other box had me tearing up before I even had it opened.
You newlyweds and brides likely know what is inside this box…
“Let’s Make This Go On Forever”. We used to sign our emails, text messages, and letters to each other that way while we were dating. I’m the prolific one in the relationship, but it doesn’t always take a multitude of words to say something meaningful.
How could 25 ever top this?

This was supposed to be a break from in-depth, but I loved seeing the choices of gifts from the important people in your life. Thanks for letting us peer into your life & relationships through this window!!

[drools at Paciugo] I think my favorite flavor there is proooobably Pistachio, but the black cherry swirl definitely ranks up there pretty highly. Yum.
All the gifts are very sweet and personal. Sounds like a super lovely 24. Not to whine (okay, I’m definitely whining), but my 20, 2 days before your 24, was fairly rotten. Here’s to 21 and 25 as well, eh? 25 is sure to be every bit as grand!

What a fantastic haul! Yay for birthdays.
Your pin cushion matches mine (and I am very jealous of the tackle box - I need something like that for my sewing stuff, it’s such a mess…)
And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the ring bowl. It is so cute. And what a sweet message.

Awwww, okay, I’m teary-eyed now. sniff*. You two are so darling together. Thanks so much for giving us such an intimate look into your lives.
Your husband is a dear. He sure has set the bar for 25, 26 and the rest of your birthdays!

I am sure you have the ability to top this next year
I should really start celebrating, I never get presents cause I don’t really celebrate. Last year and the year before, I was away and I don’t tell people that it’s my birthday when it is. TH is really sweet finding you that plate. And I LOVE that photo in your living room. It’s an awesome photo! Amazing really.

He’s adorable! One question: did he find out about Paloma’s Nest by himself? Because if this is the case, I’m so crazy impressed! Such a sweet gift.
Oh and it’s good to know that my husband isn’t the only one that assumes everything goes in the dishwasher.
Hope you enjoyed your day!

I highly reccomend all couples having one.
He still gets brownie points from me for thinking of the lovely saying all by himself though.

Congrats on getting such a lovely replacement canvas and all your other gifts.
Are you planning to show any pictures when you finish your black and white wedding corner? I’m curious to see what all you had planned for it and how everything looks in the end.

Definitely! It’s a big project so I’m hoping my mom will help me with it when she comes down for the surgery.

What a great combination of both useful and just-plain-fun gifts!
I have a question about Fast Track…do you think the book would be helpful to someone who is not planning to specialize in weddings? I’ve been tempted to get it, but I’m not sure how relevant it would be.

What great gifts! I love Michael’s for paper crafts, but if you want to start sewing, you’ll have much better luck at Hobby Lobby or Hancock (and the ladies at Hancock are typically super helpful and knowledgeable when you’re feeling clueless).

Hey thanks Molly! I’ve never heard of Hancock, and Hobby Lobby is still new to me since it’s not in the northwest. I’ll have to check both of them out!
