A small breakfast on the morning before we leave Italy. I kept things small because we were dining at Osteria Francescana in Modena! San Pellegrino rates it one of the Top 10 restaurants in the world.
We chose The Classics at 130 euros per person. I’m not going to narrate the courses because you can just scroll up and see what they were.
The table setup. I loved the olive oil dispenser.
Parmesan 5 ways was the highlight of the meal
I was surprised to discover I liked the tongue the best.
Pre-dessert
Dessert
And yet one more dessert course. Oh my these were good.
We flew back to Poland and were welcomed with my favorite Polish dessert, pronounced Kay-mahk (no idea how to spell it).
I’m excited to blog our thoughts on Osteria Francescana. Short take: worth it. Save and splurge is the best way to dine

I know this is not very helpful but if you are back in Europe next year and you really want to appriciate some delicious meals like your last night in Italy, I highly recommend checking out several restaurants in southern Germany with the Twenü offer (provided you are both under 30) http://jeunes-restaurateurs.de/twenue.html I know the page is in German but the deal is 3 courses (most also incluide a greeting from teh chef and a pre-dessert), a bottle of water and glass of wine (I’m sure you can skip that) for 59 EUR per person. My DH aged out so I only actually got to enjoy it once but it was an amazing meal and for the price you don’t feel so guilty about the splurge. We ate here: http://www.ketschauer-hof.com/en/restaurant/restaurant-freundstueck/food.html.

Interesting offer! TH is actually over 30 now, so it wouldn’t work for him. Germany is a place we plan on spending some time because it is so easy to train over.

I wish I knew you were going to Modena! We visited for the day and went to an Aceto Balsamico where we had a tour of the grounds, a tasting and then the family cooked us dinner. It was one of my most fave meals I’ve EVER had. Cheap, rustic and just plain amazing. It’s called Osteria di Rubbiara. I want to go back to Italy JUST to have this meal again. Glad you guys have finally had some good food experiences! Now I’ve got to convince my husband to let us go back instead of somewhere new

We have got to add that to our list. Sounds like the kind of thing we would love! I wanted to do the olive oil factory tour in Garda, but TH couldn’t handle that much walking
